The Day of the Session

Navigating the Phases of a Psychedelic Journey

Embarking on a psychedelic journey, regardless of the substance, is an enlightening experience marked by distinct phases. Understanding these phases can enhance your readiness and deepen your experience. Approach each phase with an open heart and mind, ready to embrace the unique challenges and insights they present.

The Entry Phase: Initial Adjustment (Approx. 1 Hour)

The journey begins with an adjustment period following ingestion. It's normal to feel some anxiety and notice subtle shifts in perception, mood, and mindset. You might experience changes in body temperature and a sense of physical imbalance. Focusing on your breathing can help ease this transition. Deep, slow, relaxed breathing can help calm you when you begin to feel the effects setting in. Remember to reconnect with your intention for the journey and even turn to it as a mental mantra you recite while breathing.

The Immersion Phase: Deep Surrender and Exploration (1 to 3 Hours)

This phase is about letting go and allowing the experience to lead. Your consciousness may drift into indescribable places, blending pleasant and challenging encounters. You could delve into deep introspection, confronting emotions, thoughts, or memories. On higher doses, experiences of ego dissolution might occur, leading to a state of boundless consciousness. Embrace both the euphoric sensations and the difficult revelations with curiosity and non-judgment.

The Reflection Phase: Processing and Insight (3 to 5 Hours)

As the intensity begins to wane, your rational mind starts to regain control again. This is a time for processing, often accompanied by feelings of wonder and gratitude. You may gain new insights about your life and the universe. Physical movements or unexpected urges might also surface as part of this phase.

The Emergence Phase: Gentle Reintegration (4 to 6 Hours)

In this final phase, you might feel sensitive as you gradually return to your normal state. People often describe this state as the feeling of being born again as you reenter your body and begin to connect with the physical world again. Quiet reflection, light refreshments, and hydration are important for grounding. Reflect on any newfound clarity or insights. Listening to gentle, uplifting music can facilitate a smooth transition out of the psychedelic experience. Take your time in this stage because you will be disoriented.
