clues.life is the personal website of Andy Johns. This policy explains what information is collected when you visit this site, how it is used, and what choices you have. It is written plainly.
The short version: this site does not use Google Analytics or any other tool that tracks your visit; it uses Google Search Console to see how it appears in Google search results. It has a contact form and a newsletter sign-up, and what you type into them is sent only if you choose to send it. No accounts exist. Nothing is sold.
This site does not use Google Analytics, advertising tags, or any other tool that tracks your visit. No information about your visit is collected by the site itself.
I use Google Search Console, a Google service that shows how this site appears in Google search results: which searches led people here, and how often the site was shown and clicked. It reports totals, not individual people. It adds nothing to this site and sets no cookies.
The newsletter box from beehiiv sets one cookie. When you arrive from another website or from a link with tracking tags, it notes where you came from, so beehiiv can show which sources lead to sign-ups. It lasts 30 days and is not used for advertising. You can turn off cookies in your browser settings.
The contact page has a form you can use to write to me. It asks for your name, your email address, what your message is about, and your message. You only share these if you choose to send a message.
The form is handled by Netlify, the company that hosts this site, which receives what you type and passes it on to me.
I use what you send only to read and answer your message. Sending a message does not add you to any mailing list.
Some pages have a box to sign up for the newsletter. It asks only for your email address. The box is provided by beehiiv, which runs the newsletter: your address goes straight to beehiiv, which stores it and sends each issue, and every issue has a link to unsubscribe.
Search statistics are used only to understand how people find the site. Messages sent through the contact form are used only to reply to you. Newsletter addresses are used only to send the newsletter.
This site uses Google Search Console, Netlify and beehiiv. Each has its own privacy practices, and I do not control how they handle the information they receive. Google’s privacy policy is here.
This site links to other websites, including Substack, Stories of Awakening and LinkedIn. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.
I do not sell, rent, trade or share visitor information, messages or email addresses with anyone for commercial purposes.
Like any website, this one is served by a hosting provider, which may keep server logs. These usually include IP addresses and the time of each request. I do not access or analyse these logs.
This site is not directed at children under the age of 13, and I do not knowingly collect information from children. Its subject matter is intended for adults.
This site can be visited from anywhere. If you are visiting from the European Union or another place with data protection laws (such as the GDPR), the information above describes what is collected. If you have sent me a message and would like it deleted, or have any other request about your information, write to the address below.
If I change how information is collected or used in a meaningful way, I will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top.
